Training Description: Home Viditing is a strategy to improve overall child health, support child development, positively impact parenting skills and can ultimately build on the parent's knowledge about the child which can result in improved interactions between teachers and children in the classroom. Research has shown that there are significant benefits to teachers interacting with families and children directly in their home, impacting school readiness, parent's knowledge of child development, and parental isolation. During this interactive full-day training, participants will:
   -Reflect on the benefits of Home Visiting;
   -Reflect on biases within themselves and learn how to be culutrally responsive;
   -Develop strategies to incorporate the Strengthening Families Protective Factors framework from center to      home to support children and families;
   -Learn how to develop and use policies, procedures and forms to guide quality home visits, and,
   -Discuss communication strategies to incorporate the strength-based approach.
This fulfills the teacher training requirements of standard 4.2.3 in Grow NJ Kids and also helps prepare teachers to meet standards 3.3.4 and 3.4.4.
